Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education
The MPBSE sets the syllabus for the students of its affiliated schools from class 9 to 12, and also conducts a year-long examination in their care.
Apart from compulsory Hindi and English languages, Sanskrit, Urdu, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Sindhi, Malayalam, Persian, Arabic, French, Russian, Kannada or Oriya can be selected as the language subject.
It conducts three examinations: Middle School Examination for Class VIII, High School Certificate Examination for Class X and Higher Secondary (School) Certificate (HSC) Examination for Class XII, which is a school dropout exam.
The MP Legislature, in the sixteenth year of the Republic of India, passed an Act to establish an organization for regulating secondary education and other ancillary matters in MP. This autonomous body was established in 1965 under the Madhya Pradesh Secondary Education Act, 1965.
